Chess Club
Join the Chess Club to build critical thinking, resilience, and teamwork through weekly training and inter-school competitions.
The Chess Club was started in 2025 as an interest group. In 2026, it is formally launched as a CCA. Students may opt to join the Chess Club as their main CCA, subject to availability of places. Other interested students may also request to join the Chess Club as a 2nd CCA, or participate in some activities out of interest.
Learning outcomes:
Chess develops foresight, planning, and decision-making skills as players anticipate opponents’ moves and evaluate multiple outcomes enhancing overall problem-solving abilities.
Regular practice teaches perseverance through losses, patience during long matches, and focus under pressure building essential character traits.
CCA involvement fosters collaboration in school teams and tournaments, boosting confidence, sportsmanship, and social bonds.

Punggol Secondary Tournament-Term 1
Friendly match with Pathlight students-once a term (tentative)
Peirce Secondary internal tournament-Term 1
Friendlies with other schools-ad hoc and likely to be post examination activities
