SELECTION CRITERIA

SELECTION PROCESS

STEM (Girls and Boys)

Applicants should:
1) demonstrate

passion and aptitude in STEM, e.g participation in STEM-related competitions, projects, coding courses, robotics clubs, science fairs, or personal STEM projects,
2) possess problem-solving and critical thinking skills, e.g. performance in a school-based task or interview involving hands-on problem-solving, design challenges, or logical reasoning puzzles, and

Character:
3) have a conduct grade of at least ‘Very Good’ in their Primary 5 and Primary 6 school reports

All shortlisted applicants will attend a selection trial and an interview.

Concert Band (Girls and Boys)

All applicants should be:
1) active in a performing arts (instrumental) CCA in their primary school or an external organization,
2) have a strong interest in music,
3) have participated in music performances or competitions, and

Character:
4) have a conduct grade of at least ‘Very Good’ in their Primary 5 and Primary 6 school reports.

All shortlisted applicants will attend an audition and be prepared to:
1) perform a piece of their choice using a Concert Band instrument of their choice, such as brass, woodwind and/or percussion and the piece can be either a solo piece or from a part of a band piece, and
2) sight-read a score provided during the audition.

Applicants who are further shortlisted will attend an interview.

Scouts (Boys)

All applicants should be:
1) active in a uniformed group in their primary school or an external organization

Character:
2) have a conduct grade of at least ‘Very Good’ in their Primary 5 and Primary 6 school reports.

All shortlisted applicants will attend a selection trial.

Applicants who are further shortlisted will attend an interview.

International Chess (Girls and Boys)

Applicants should:
1) demonstrate a passion for the game through regular practice and participation in school or external chess activities,
2) have participated in school-level, zonal, national, or online-rated chess competitions (e.g., National Schools Individual Chess Championship, SSPA, etc.),
3) possesses sound knowledge of chess fundamentals (openings, tactics, strategy, endgames), and

Character:
4) have a conduct grade of at least ‘Very Good’ in their Primary 5 and Primary 6 school reports.

All shortlisted applicants will attend a selection trial.

Applicants who are further shortlisted will attend an interview.
